Invisalign® takes a modern approach to straightening teeth, using a custom-made series of aligners created for you and only you. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth. Wearing the aligners will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place, based on the exact movements your dentist or orthodontist plans out for you. There are no metal brackets to attach and no wires to tighten. You just pop in a new set of aligners approximately every two weeks, until your treatment is complete. You’ll achieve a great smile with little interference in your daily life. The best part about the whole process is that most people won’t even know you’re straightening your teeth.

And here are answers to some frequently asked questions about Invisalign:
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a type of clear brace, or “invisible aligner”, that is used instead of traditional metal braces to correct crooked and crowded teeth, abnormal gaps between teeth and some types of misaligned bites. These aligners consist of a series of clear, removable trays that are custom-made for each patient out of a thermoplastic material uniquely designed for Invisalign treatment. Wearing the aligners causes your teeth to gradually shift from their current position. Every two weeks, you change the aligners for a new set that will cause your teeth to shift a bit more. Over the weeks and months of your treatment, your teeth straighten into their proper positions.
How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign aligners apply a controlled force that shifts your teeth from the current position to the proper one. Invisalign controls both the amount – and timing – of the force. During each stage, only certain teeth are allowed to move.
How long does Invisalign treatment take?
The total length of treatment varies from patient to patient, depending upon how much correction is required. On the average, however, it takes about 12 months for adults.
Are Invisalign aligners removable?
Yes. Unlike traditional metal braces, the aligners may be removed to eat and drink at any time. You can also remove them to brush and floss your teeth. However, for the best results, you need to wear them 20 to 22 hours per day.
What are Invisalign attachments?
Depending on your individual case, some of the aligners may require either “attachments” or “ridges” to help the aligner grip the teeth. Attachments are small pieces of enamel-colored composite affixed to your teeth that are gripped by bumps on the aligners. Ridges are slim indentations in your aligners. One or both of these features might be necessary to achieve the desired tooth movement.
Will I need to wear a retainer after Invisalign treatment?
Every case is different, but generally anyone who has completed orthodontic treatment, whether metallic braces or Invisalign treatment, should use a retainer to prevent their teeth from gradually moving back to their initial position. There are many types of retainer that may be used to maintain your teeth in the final position, including Vivera retainers designed and sold by the makers of the Invisalign aligners.
Can I get Invisalign if I’ve already worn braces?
Generally, yes. It’s not uncommon for teeth to shift back after a patient has previously worn braces, often during their youth. Invisalign aligners can correct that without needing to wear metallic braces again as an adult.
Am I too old for Invisalign?
No! People of all ages can benefit from Invisalign
